It seems like we are all going to be spending a lot of time at home in the coming weeks. Let's share some suggestions for games to play. What's your favorite game and why do you recommend it to others? (Think card games, or board games NO electronic games!)
This week you read about the pioneer era in Michigan. Think about all you learned. What would you like about living during this time period? What would you NOT like?
Today, we acted like detectives. We investigated changes to the land around Barnard. What evidence did you find? What do you think caused the changes? Do you think they happened slowly or quickly? What makes you say that?
Please post a thoughtful comment about your evidence and ideas. You should type at least 4-6 sentences. Make sure to use your best capitalization and spelling, since your comment will be read by others. You can also post a thoughtful response to a comment written by someone else. Can you add on to their thinking? What do you wonder about their comment? After completing 5 investigations about energy we sure have learned a lot. Share what you know and how your thinking has changed. What is energy? How does it affect the movement of an object?
You now have a full week of 4th grade "under your belt." What do you think will be one of the main differences between 3rd grade and 4th grade? Explain your thinking.
As the school year is winding down, I hope you are thinking about some books to read over the summer. Think about the long list of books you read this school year. What is one book you would highly recommend to your classmates? Tell a little about the book (but don't give away the ending), name the genre, and tell why someone would enjoy reading it.
You have recently completed research about threats to a particular biome. Share what you learned with others. What does this make you think? Can we do anything to prevent the problems from getting worse?
We have recently finished the Magnets & Electricity Unit. Think of all our investigations, class discussions, reading, etc. We have learned so much! Often times when we learn something new, it raises new questions. What do you now wonder about magnets and electricity? What topics would you like to further explore?
What have you noticed about the differences between third grade and fourth grade? How do you think things are going so far?
Barnard 4th graders take a field trip to Lansing every year. Do you think 4th graders should continue to go to Lansing? Make a claim and give evidence to support it..
